Strategic Framework

The framework in which the LFAA operates to achieve its objectives includes:

  • Non party-political alignment.
  • All activities will be carried out in a lawful manner. (ie. all strategies and activities must be within the law)
  • Encouragement of natural justice as the norm in family breakdown situations
  • Effective consultation with other stakeholders

Lobby Government to bring about legislative changes in accordance with LFAA Mission and Vision

To be recognised as a peak advisory body in family matters. LFAA will provide input and endeavour to influence Government legislationand policy changes.

Measures: Demonstrated influence in changes to relevant legislation and administration.

To pursue the adoption of a fair and just approach by the Courts & other Government agencies on co-parenting, residency, contact, property and child support issues.

To document processes for Courts and other activities related to family breakdown.

Provide advice to clients of the services available and how to liaise with agencies & Courts.

Measures: Feedback from clients. Monitoring and assessmentof calls for help.

Promote best practices in co- parenting with the happiness and emotional well-being of the children as the primary consideration. (Recognising children need guidance and love of both parents and also extended family members).

To encourage a code of conduct and behaviour for parents relating to parenting, former spouse relationship and violence.

Measures: Dissemination of a parental code of behaviour. Parental compliance with the code.

To relieve the suffering and trauma of parents and their children, as a result of the relationship breakdown.

Provide a service to help parents cope with relationship breakdown and move on.

Provide crisis accommodation services. Arrangements with other organisations for referrals.

Measures: Audit reports, Client feedback, Client statistics. Referral statistics. Feedback from other organisations.

To liaise and co-operate with other organisations with similar objectives on matters of mutual interest.

Development of a liaison plan to be reviewed annually, focusing on key organisations.

Measures: Feedback from other organisations. Developing a Liaison Plan.
